Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is responsible for maintaining all street lights in the city. The city is responsible for bike path lights and decorative lighting in the downtown area. To report a street light outage, contact DMEA dispatch at 240-1234.
The City of Montrose maintains the traffic signals at Main/Park and Main/Nevada. To report malfunctioning lights at these locations, please call the City of Montrose at 970-240-1442.
All other street lights within the City of Montrose are maintained by the Colorado Department of Transportation. If a traffic signal is malfunctioning and causing a dangerous situation, please call the Colorado State Patrol at 970-249-4392. For all other questions regarding traffic signal operations, such as light synchronization or timing, please call the Colorado Department of Transportation at 970-248-7230.
The Sidewalk Replacement Assistance Program was started as part of the city’s commitment to maintaining an attractive and pedestrian-friendly community. The program assists residents in replacing deteriorated sidewalks and/or curbs and gutters by providing reimbursement. Funding is limited and assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 240-1480 for more information.
The Montrose Streets Department performs periodic maintenance on alleys. If an alley has been damaged by construction activity, the city will not grade or repair the alley until after the construction activities have been completed. Contact the city's Streets Division at 240-1480 to report significant damage to any city street or alley. A contractor who works in an alley is responsible for leaving it in the same or better condition than before its work began.
Excavation or Street Cut permits are available online and at the Montrose Public Works building, located on the north side of San Juan Avenue, just east of Townsend Avenue. Applicants will be required to supply specific information about the work that is planned, traffic control measures, scheduling, etc. See the Excavation Permit Fees document for the current fees. Call Public Works at 240-1480 for further information.
Streets are typically swept five times each year according to the city's Street Sweeping Plan. Sweeping is not performed on a request basis unless there is an unsafe condition, such as a gravel spill. Please call Public Works at 970-240-1480 to report any unsafe conditions that may require expedited street sweeping services.
Storm drain blockages are addressed on an emergency basis. If you notice a blocked storm drain call the Streets Division at 970-240-1443.
