No. Spay and neuter services are available from local veterinarians. Occasionally, the city sponsors spay and neuter clinics that are advertised well in advance. The Montrose Animal Protection Agency (MAPA) offers vouchers through local veterinarians to assist with the cost of spaying/neutering. Please contact your family veterinarian to ask about this service. The fee for adopting pets from the Animal Shelter includes spay/neuter and vaccination. Call the Animal Shelter at 240-1487 for more information.

The Animal Shelter is required to keep animals for three to five days. Nine days is the average length of stay.
We have been a "No-Kill" or "Adoption-Only" facility for several years and it is our goal to continue as such. The shelter makes every effort to find homes for pets through adoptions, transfers, foster care, and reclaims.
