In conjunction with International Walk to School Month and Colorado Pedestrian Month, the Montrose Police Department will be stepping up its pedestrian safety education and compliance efforts during the first two weeks of October.
Focused enforcement operations will be conducted primarily in the high-traffic areas of the downtown.
Most pedestrian-related citations issued in Montrose are for failure to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. Citations have also been issued to pedestrians for jaywalking or failure to use available crosswalks.
Motorists and pedestrians alike are encouraged to become familiar with pedestrian laws and to apply safe practices. A pamphlet containing helpful information on pedestrian laws and safety tips is available at City Hall or at the link provided below.
