Montrose, CO — Geyser Technologies announced its relocation to Montrose, Colorado, from Austin, Texas immediately following approval of an agreement signifying its partnership with the City of Montrose.
Geyser Technologies designs and manufactures products that make the most of every drop of water. The company’s flagship product, Geyser System, is a heated portable shower that uses less than one gallon of water. The patented technology aims to appeal to diverse markets in the military, natural disaster relief, home healthcare, and outdoor gear industries.
The city partnered with Geyser through job creation incentives, marketing, and the abatement of a portion of Geyser’s lease expense for its manufacturing facility, newly located in Montrose. The innovative agreement provided Geyser with $155,000 of operating capital that will be paid back to the city through performance in the way of job creation. Each time the business creates and maintains a job that meets the minimum salary threshold of $42,285 as set by Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the city will forgive a portion of the loan.
Additionally, through the city’s Office of Business and Tourism, $40,000 will be available to Geyser within the next five years for marketing. The marketing will serve a dual purpose of promoting both Geyser and the Montrose community.
“Texas was a great start, but it doesn’t come close to the cohesive, creative, and committed community in Colorado’s Western Slope,” said Jonathan Ballesteros, founder, and CEO of Geyser Technologies. “We believe that great leaders leave greater leaders behind. Our shining crew of eight will only grow brighter with our industry and community partnerships.”
Geyser predicts 98 new manufacturing and administrative jobs will be created and maintained in the Montrose community within a six-year time period. Further, the business has a purchase order from REI Co-op to launch its flagship product in all 240 REI Co-op locations in 2020.
Following City Council’s vote to approve the agreement, support from the city’s economic development partners has been tremendous, giving momentum to further diversifying the economy in Montrose and Colorado as a whole.
“The State of Colorado is excited that Geyser Systems has chosen to relocate to Colorado and, particularly, Montrose,’ said Nathan Fey, director of the Colorado Office of Outdoor Recreation Industry. “It’s a reflection on the direction of both the city and the brand. Geyser Systems is so much more than just an innovative product for the outdoor recreation community. It’s invested in creating good-paying jobs in rural Colorado. It’s also applying its technology around the world in creating positive change for developing countries, addressing the public health crisis, and supporting disaster relief efforts domestically and abroad. For all those reasons, I think Geyser is a great fit for Colorado."
“MEDC is very excited that Jonathan has chosen Montrose as the headquarters for Geyser Systems. As a primary employer, their innovative hot shower systems will be sold around the USA and eventually the world, which will bring new dollars into our community and add to our economic wealth," said MEDC Executive Director Sandy Head. "Geyser Systems will be a great addition to our current global manufacturing community. The regional, state and local collaboration and assistance that helped bring this to fruition is an example of the quality leadership we have here on the Western Slope and in Colorado."
