Montrose, CO — City of Montrose Mayor Pro-Tem, Barbara Bynum was elected to the Colorado Municipal League (CML) Executive Board Thursday, June 20, at the organization’s annual conference in Breckenridge. Bynum joins 20 other Colorado elected and appointed officials who comprise the executive board.

As part of her service on the executive board, Bynum will remain current in civic, state, and national trends that may impact and affect member municipalities and the organization as a whole. In addition, the role will give Montrose and Western Colorado an important voice at the state level regarding matters affecting local government.

“The Colorado Municipal League does important work on behalf of cities and towns across our state," Bynum said. "I am excited for the opportunity to serve on the CML executive board. Montrose is a highly respected city with a strong legacy of participation within CML. And I’m honored to continue that tradition.”

Founded in 1923, CML is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization providing services and resources to assist municipal officials in managing their governments and serving the cities and towns of Colorado. The organization focuses on advocacy, member engagement, training, research and information, and leadership for municipalities across the state of Colorado.

“I am very proud of Barbara for taking the time to serve not only Montrose but all Colorado communities by being a member of the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board,” said City Manager Bill Bell. “Barbara was elected to serve by her professional colleagues from all around the state, which shows the trust and respect that our neighboring communities have for Barbara and the City of Montrose.”

The City of Montrose has been an active member of CML for decades. Notably, Robert A. Finlayson from Montrose was president of CML for the 1939-1940 term.
