Montrose, CO – Montrose Police Department officers participating in No Shave November are now free to bust their beards with razors as the fundraiser for cancer research has concluded.
No Shave November officially ended last week, raising over $500 to support organizations such as St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Prevent Cancer Foundation, and the Fight Colorectal Cancer organization.
Participating officers let their stubble grow for the month of November for the cause.
“This was a great opportunity for our officers to support a great cause in cancer research,” Montrose Police Chief Blaine Hall said. “It also allowed our officers to try something different and allow the community to see what our officers look like in beards. This was an officer-driven effort and I commend them for supporting it."
The fundraiser received several anonymous donations from outside the police department. In total, the effort raised approximately $540.
The fundraiser is ongoing and year-round. Anyone wanting to contribute to the campaign can make donations at www.no-shave.org/org/MontrosePD.
Any donations made before the end of December will count towards the department's 2018 campaign. Donations made after December will count towards the 2019 campaign.
