Montrose, CO — Street utility crews will be working through the night, both Tuesday and Wednesday nights, to replace a pair of faulty waterline valves under Townsend Avenue. The work will begin around 8 p.m. and is scheduled to be finished prior to morning traffic each Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Recently, utility crews repaired a broken water main line near the intersection at Spruce Drive and Townsend Avenue due to poor functioning water valves. On Tuesday, Nov. 6, city crews worked through the night to begin this replacement process.
Utility crews are planning to begin work to replace the two waterline valves at South 10th Street and Townsend Avenue and South 12th Street and Townsend Avenue. Crews are estimating the work could last both Tuesday (11/13) and Wednesday (11/14) nights.
This work will involve closing the southbound lane of South Townsend Avenue, including the turn lanes at South 10th and South 12th Streets. Traffic will be diverted into the northbound lanes overnight while crews are working.
Traffic will be returned to normal with street plates over the excavations at approximately 7 a.m.
