[ARCHIVED] City Unveils Lifestyle Enhancement Survey

Montrose, CO — An important questionnaire seeking information on local shopping preferences, spending habits, and identifying goods and services most sought after in Montrose is ready for citizen input. City officials will use data from the survey to identify areas of concern with the goal of enhancing the consumer and business environment in Montrose.

City residents will soon receive the 2018 Montrose Lifestyle Enhancement Survey with their utility bills. The survey is also available online through the city's website.

The survey can be found here: www.cityofmontrose.org/survey

By gathering shopping habit information from city residents and the surrounding area, officials want to know where areas of economic improvement can be made within the city.

Finance and Business Service Assistant Marcus Catlin said the survey's 27 questions are designed to help city officials target areas for potential economic growth in Montrose. Catlin said in addition to the print and online surveys, citizens can expect to see city representatives gathering survey information throughout the community.

"The purpose of the survey is for the city to have an understanding of how residents perceive the current economic conditions of Montrose and how we can aid in enhancing the Montrose lifestyle," Catlin said.

One question: "What other stores of types of stores would you like to see in Montrose?” was created to see what products Montrose residents want to have available locally, but have to travel outside the city to get, or shop online for.

Some of the questions are centered around shopping habits in larger communities like Grand Junction or on the Front Range like Denver.

Questions about age, media consumption, and socioeconomic factors will build demographics for city officials to study and could determine future decisions on economic development projects.
