[ARCHIVED] Montrose Residents Encouraged to Participate in Colorado Cities And Towns Week

Montrose, CO – Montrose residents have an opportunity to express pride in their community by participating in the city’s 2018 celebration of Colorado Cities and Towns week. From September 10 through 16, enthusiasts can take part in a number of activities as Montrose joins communities across Colorado in the annual celebration. 


First, children ages ten and younger can enter a coloring contest about our cities and towns by completing a fun activity book provided by the Colorado Municipal League. These activity books are available at the Downtown Visitor Center located at 107 South Cascade Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, September 10. 


To enter the contest, children can complete the booklet and return it to the visitor center. Entries must be received at the visitor center by noon on Thursday, September 13, to be eligible for prizes. The activity books will be judged on creativity and the first and second prize winners will be chosen. First prize earns $25 in Montrose Bucks and second prize will receive $10 in Montrose Bucks. 


Residents are also encouraged to visit their city facilities for a "Meet and Greet" event with city staff over the course of the week (Monday – Thursday) from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. 


Each day, a different city facility will host a meet and greet event with free coffee and donuts and provide an informal opportunity to visit with city employees. This event is open to all residents. Ridealongs are available with the police department. 


Meet and Greet Schedule:

Monday, Sept. 10 – Downtown Visitor Center (107 S. Cascade Ave)

Tuesday, Sept. 11 –Police Department (434 S. 1st St)

Wednesday, Sept. 12 –Public Works Facility (1221 6450 Rd)

Thursday, Sept. 13 – City Hall (433 S. 1st St)


City personnel will also be visiting the American History class at Montrose High School during the week to help educate students about municipal government. Residents are encouraged to visit the City of Montrose Facebook page for fun updates and more detailed information can be found at CityofMontrose.org/CTWeek.
