Approval of the plan caps a year-long effort to gather and incorporate input from the public. Thanks to all those who attended multiple public meetings and those who participated on the Citizen's Advisory Committee and the Technical Advisory Committee.
A pre-published, "adopted draft" version of the plan can be viewed in the Community Development folder of the Document Center. A final published edition of the plan will be distributed by the first part of April.
The Comprehensive Plan, sometimes referred to as the "Master Plan," is an important tool in shaping the community's future. It is "comprehensive" in that it includes all of the primary areas of community planning and development including transportation, land use, economic and business development, growth, parks and open space, trails, and public facilities.
By using the plan, local officials, residents, developers and business people are better equipped to make sound decisions about development and the future character of the community. The city's Comprehensive Plan encompasses the city limits and the immediate areas just outside the city limits.
