Shani Wittenberg, Finance Director

Shani is a Colorado native who grew up in Grand County. Prior to working at the city, she worked for Middle Park bank as well as Gunnison Savings and Loan.

Shani has worked in the city’s Finance Department for 23 years, serving as the finance director since 2005. Prior to being promoted to the finance director position, she performed the payroll function and supported the development of the annual city budget document.

Currently, Shani manages all functions of the Finance Department, including fund accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, sales and use tax accounting and auditing, utility account management, budgeting, investing and debt management functions.

Shani has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, and is a member of the Colorado Government Finance Officers Association.

Shani and her husband, Joe, enjoying living and raising their two children in Montrose. From scouting to church activities, the family stays involved and busy in the Montrose Community throughout the year. They also enjoy the outdoors and take advantage of the great opportunities for camping and hiking, which the family enjoys throughout the year.
