Planning Services

Planning Services facilitates and manages the city's development process. Staff from this department evaluate development proposals and report to the Planning Commission on subdivisions, zoning, special requests, and master plan updates. The department also works on short and long-term planning goals, special studies to support the needs of the city, and building permits and inspections.

All of these services work in unison to preserve and enhance the quality of life in the City of Montrose.

Land Development Regulations Update

The City of Montrose is updating its land development regulations. All land use regulations (zoning, subdivision, and other related development code provisions) will be reorganized and consolidated into one document, termed a Unified Development Code (UDC). The code update will address multiple action items that support the vision and guiding principles of the Envision 2040 Montrose Comprehensive Plan. Montrose Housing Needs Assessment

To better understand the housing needs of the entire Montrose community, the City of Montrose, in partnership with Points Consulting, has been working to develop a Housing Needs Assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate current housing conditions and needs, make projections of future housing needs, and provide recommendations for policies, practices, and regulatory changes that can be implemented to address gaps between housing need and supply.
