All 2016 City of Montrose annual community events honor the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service. Event themes honor the Centennial by focusing on land stewardship and the fundamental idea of protecting, conserving, and preserving our land, landscapes, and heritage.
 

Independence Day: “America the Beautiful”


Commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, Independence Day is the National Day of the United States. Montrose celebrates with a morning parade and evening fireworks.
 
The 2016 NPS Centennial tie-in for 4th of July festivities is America the Beautiful.
 
The parade route down Historic Main Street runs from N Pythia Ave to S Rio Grande Ave. Step off is at 10 a.m. A fun, annual event designed to bring patriotic cheer to the Montrose community, the Parade of Lights is brought to you by the City of Montrose, Montrose Police Department, and Montrose Lions Club.
