The City of Montrose sponsors and coordinates a full slate of annual holiday activities as part of our Hometown Holiday Traditions.
Annual Tree Lighting & Opening of Santa's Cabin
Kick off the holidays the day after Thanksgiving (November 24) at 5 pm. Events include the Pre-Tree Lighting Story Time on the steps of the historic Montrose County Courthouse, Welcoming Santa to Town, and the annual Tree Lighting, immediately followed by the opening of Santa’s Cabin for the season.

Parade of Lights
The traditional Parade of Lights illuminates Historic Main Street. Join us the first Saturday in December 2 at 5 pm. A fun, annual event designed to bring holiday cheer to the Montrose community, the Parade of Lights is brought to you by the City of Montrose, Montrose Police Department, and Montrose Lions Club. This year's theme is, "Do you hear what I hear?"
