Holiday Theme: “Do You Hear What I Hear”

The City of Montrose sponsors and coordinates a full schedule of annual holiday activities. Every year, a different theme highlights the season. The theme of the 2017 Parade of Lights — is Do You Hear What I Hear?  Go to VisitMontrose.com/Events to view a calendar of community events that are scheduled to occur throughout the year.

Annual Tree Lighting - Day after Thanksgiving: November 24 - 5:30 p.m.

Be dazzled as the festive tree lights up in front of the historic Montrose County Courthouse (320 South First Street). Enjoy a reading of T’was the Night before Christmas, sing carols with the members of the Valley Symphony Choir, sip on complimentary hot cocoa, and keep toasty warm during the celebration thanks to the outdoor heaters! We’ll welcome Santa Claus to town and take a short walk with him as he opens his cabin for the season in the Uncompahgre Events Plaza (502 South First Street). Brought to you by the City of Montrose and the Office of Business and Tourism.

Santa's Cabin - Grand Opening following the Tree Lighting: Friday, November 24 - 6:30 p.m.

Santa’s Cabin, located in the Uncompahgre Events Plaza (502 South First Street), is a tiny home Santa uses to visit Montrose each holiday season. Santa opens his doors to kids and families starting the day after Thanksgiving and each weekend in December, offering family photos with Santa. The cabin is open from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Santa’s Cabin is a program of the City of Montrose and their Office of Business and Tourism and its success is made possible with the support of a number of community partners. Elves (photographers) are volunteers from the United Methodist Church who manage the cabin on the city's behalf. The city provides outdoor heaters to keep guests warm while waiting to see Santa. The elves take photos of the visitors with Santa and offer free prints or digital files of the pictures.
